Scots book flights to Algarve
Flight and travel info: 23 April 2008The Algarve looks set to attract more Scottish holidaymakers this year after the launch of new flights.
Low-cost airline easyJet is now flying between Glasgow Airport and Faro in Portugal twice-weekly as of this month.
This means that consumers in Scotland are now able to travel directly to a region which offers attractions such as beaches, historical sites and excellent weather.
The airline added that golf fans in particular are "spoilt for choice" in the Algarve, as the area has many top-quality courses in easy reach of Faro.
Commenting on the new flights, easyJet's David Osborne said a large number of advance bookings have already been taken.
He commented: "This direct route to Faro has already proven a popular choice and will offer all Scots the opportunity to experience the glorious Algarve from their local airport."
This comes after official figures revealed that tourist numbers in Portugal went up by five per cent last year to 23 million.
