Mainland Europe attracts British families
Travel trends: 24 April 2008Traditional European destinations are still the holiday destinations of choice for British families, new research has revealed.
According to MyChild.co.uk, Spain and France are currently the two most-popular countries among parents and children who are going abroad this summer.
The study showed that nearly two-thirds of families are planning to travel overseas during the forthcoming school holidays, which remains the peak season for family breaks.
This is despite the fact that many are having to tighten their belts as a result of the credit crisis, as well as increasing living costs and a slump in the domestic housing market.
Denise Roberts, resource manager at MyChild.co.uk, commented: "Families are increasingly seeing the family holiday break as a necessity rather than a luxury."
This comes after the Post Office revealed that currency sales during the run-up to the recent Easter holidays remained strong.
