Colorado festival celebrates freak chicken-slaughter

America: 19 February 2007

Fruita, a farming town in western Colorado, each year celebrates a freak chicken-slaughtering accident that occurred in 1945, when a chicken named Mike continued to live despite having his head chopped off by local farmer Lloyd Olsen.

Now the town celebrates Mike's determination by staging Mike the Headless Chicken Days in May each year, where visitors are encouraged to dress up and run for five kilometres like chickens with their heads cut off! Stay in a rented holiday home in the USA and celebrate an extraordinary life!
